Doug Burgum grew up in Arthur, North Dakota and graduated from North Dakota State University.  Doug literally bet the family farm on a software startup company that hired thousands of North Dakotans from over 220 North Dakota communities.  Doug is a business leader and political outsider who will bring new ideas and a fresh perspective that will transform North Dakota’s economy for the future.

News From The Week …

The Associated Press reports that Doug Burgum released his first ad of the general election that focused on North Dakota’s budget. “Republican governor candidate Doug Burgum is releasing his first television advertisement of the general election campaign. The statewide ad focuses on North Dakota’s budget troubles. In it, Burgum pledges to work with lawmakers to balance the state budget without raising taxes. He emphasizes zero-based budgeting, which means government programs are financed based on their needs instead of a percentage increase over the previous period.”

Doug visited Fargo Glass and Paint where he received the endorsement from the NFIB. “At a news conference held in Fargo on October 11, NFIB announced its endorsement of Doug Burgum for governor. ‘With Doug in Bismarck, small-business owners and families across our state will have a leader who is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs and innovators who are creating new jobs for our state,’ said Rae Ann Kelsch, NFIB/North Dakota state director, which made the endorsement of Burgum. ‘I am grateful for the NFIB’s support, and together we can diversify our economy to create jobs and build vibrant communities across North Dakota to attract and retains our children and grandchildren,’ said Burgum.”

After a strong post-primary fundraising report, The Bismarck Tribune reports that Doug was thankful for all of the support he has received. “Nearly $1.6 million in contributions have poured into the campaign war chest of North Dakota Republican Party gubernatorial candidate Doug Burgum this year. ‘We are thankful for all the support we have received across North Dakota. Together we can balance our budget without raising taxes, create jobs and revitalize our main streets across our state so we can attract and retain a strong workforce,’ Burgum said in a statement.”
